Dr. Mark Rapaport, Chair of Emory’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, discusses the findings of their study on the biological benefits of frequent massage in this brief video. For this study the participants received massage once or twice a week. When I was a court reporter, I would receive massage every two weeks when I was really swamped at work and in pain and stressed out. Other times when work had slowed down, I would get a massage once a month. For me, there was always a profound improvement physically and mentally.
My experience through the years was that I made it through a lot of difficult stressors in my life when I would find time in my schedule for massage. The relief from pain and reduction in stress I received from massage inspired me to go back to school to become a massage therapist. I hope to be able to make a huge difference in someone’s life!
There is a reason why Swedish massage is the most requested type of massage in the United States. The main benefit is relaxation. Most people don’t know that this massage goes way beyond relaxation. This type of massage also provides relief from pain, improves circulation and provides for greater flexibility. Long, flowing strokes are used, as well as kneading, gliding, tapping, and friction.
This massage uses any and all of the techniques I was trained in at massage school; Swedish, Pressure Points, Deep Touch, Myofascial Release, Breathwork and Reiki. I will use all of my knowledge and skill to bring about the changes you desire. We set the intention together for the results you desire.
Reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique that uses a pressure point technique, usually directed at the feet or hands. There are zones and reflexes on the body which correspond to and are relative to all parts, glands and organs. The benefits are relaxation, removal of stress and overall balancing of the body.
This treatment begins with a luxurious and relaxing foot soak while you relax in the most comfortable recliner ever! The feet are dried and wrapped in a warm towel. You relax in the recliner while I massage each foot. It’s relaxing while being energizing at the same time. It’s a real treat.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui at the beginning of the 20th Century. Dr. Usui was an advanced Buddhist practitioner from an ancient samurai family in Japan. Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by the gentle laying of hands. The body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional and physical health. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of mental and emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain. I am a Reiki Master. I have received much relief from pain and also greater energy after a session and have seen the same in others.
I’ve been trained in Traditional Hawaiian Lomilomi by Cuky Harvey. Cuky learned Lomilomi in Hawaii directly from Auntie Margaret Machado, who was the most famous of the Lomilomi healers. Lomilomi mimics the ocean, its power and rhythm. The healing art of Lomilomi was passed down from generation to generation. The Lomi sticks (or the forearms) are the primary tools of this bodywork. The strokes are not painful. They are powerful. The ancient people of Hawaii have a beautiful word, Ho’oponopono, which means to make what is right more right. People often feel energetically high or tingly after receiving a Lomi session.

I would like you to enjoy your massage, knowing what the cost of it is upfront and not thinking about “how much should I tip,” and “what was it that I tipped last time” and “what if she thinks I didn’t like her service because I didn’t tip enough.” You get the idea. It complicates things. Let’s keep it simple and not give you one more thing to think about.
